Hello and welcome to Crescent Leather. This website showcases the finest of British made products using the highest quality materials and traditional handmade skills. We source all our leather and fixings within the U.K. from the strongest English bridle butt leather to the equestrian grade harness fasteners and fixings. Our aim is to produce classic, traditional, timeless style with strength, durability and practicality. Our products don't just look good they perform well and stand up to continued use and the rigours of time.
Who we are...
Where to start? I suppose it should be with a confession, the "we" of Crescent Leather is actually "I". My name is Rachel and I am currently the sole workforce behind Crescent Leather.
I have always had an interest in the equine world from a child starting off with my own horses and then eventually working with them within the horse racing industry. This was where I first learnt my craft, I needed to earn extra money and was looking for a job oportunity to get me away from the early mornings and the wonderful English weather! A good friend at the time was a trained saddler and she taught me the skills I've carried forward and perfected to date. I never stop learning and love taking on new challenges and commissions.
I left the racing industry for another weather affected career in gardening. At the same time I became the owner of a whippet (I now have eight!). This was my first "show" whippet and thanks to him I started using my dormant leather skills making dog collars for my own dog and those of my friends. It was very apparent that it was difficult to buy good quality British products. This is why it is still so important to me now that I use the superior materials I source within the U.K.
Tempest fugit and many years went by. I now have twin girls born in 2019 along with the eight whippets! I needed to find a job I loved and could work around my young family so, Crescent Leather was born. I love the medium I work with and its versatility. I'm proud that I can produce products that are made from the highest quality materials using traditional time honoured skills.
